  7. Two independent people must uses clickers to count people into the venue, the lower of the two clicker counts being submitted as the final attendance. Clickers can be purchased from here for about £3 each.
  8. For the purposes of attempt, you must steward all public entrances and exits to your venue/auditorium.
  9. If the total of people not participating in the attempt, i.e. not singing is in excess of 5% your independent witness must declare the attempt void.
  10. Supervisors, stewards and witnesses do not count towards the total of those taking part
  11. Anyone leaving the venue prior to the attempt must be deducted from the total attendance
  12. There must be a minimum of 25 people participating

Substantiating your part in the attempt

  1. You must appoint two independent witnesses to your attempt, these people must not be members of the church and should have 'standing' in the local community. 'Standing' means they must be prominent and respected, e.g. Justice of the Peace, Police Office, Judge, Elected Politician, Doctor, Newspaper Editor, Minister of Religion (but not at your church) a member of a recognised profession (lawyer, accountant etc). In shorthand, anyone who might qualify to sign a driving licence or passport photograph. The witnesses must also be independent of each other, e.g. not Husband and Wife, not both Police officers etc. NB It is more important that the witnesses are independent than of 'standing'.
  2. Both witness must produce a signed statement each confirming that the rules for this attempt have been kept and state the facts of the attempt, e.g. start time, finish time, number in attendance, location and the fact you were attempting the 'Largest Group of Carol Singers Across Multiple Venues'. Each statement must be signed by the individual, provide full contact details (name, address, telephone number, job/position details, and email address) and preferably be on their headed notepaper.
  3. We encourage you to generate some local press coverage from your part in the attempt, if you receive some coverage after the event, please send us copies of the coverage.
  4. You must supply us video footage of your attempt from start to finish (approx 15mins). It is perfectly acceptable to use a home video camera and does not need to be shot by a professional. We just need you to send us the cassette/DVD/Data File.
